The Community Foundation of Washington County MD, Inc. is accepting applications for the 2022 Bill Dorsey Scholarship for Barbara Ingram School for the Arts.

This fund was established by Reverend Janice Dorsey in 2008 when she was named a People's Choice Award winner. Reverend Dorsey named the endowment in honor of her late husband, Bill Dorsey. The scholarship is designed for rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors at the Barbara Ingram School for the Arts to offset the cost of materials, supplies, and other elements directly related to their arts discipline.

The family of Clayton Knode has established the Clayton Michael Knode Scholarship Fund. Intended to be a continued celebration of Clayton’s life, this fund will award scholarships to graduating Washington County students. The fund consists of the many generous donations from the Clear Spring Blazer community and beyond, and serves as a way for future donations to accumulate for a good cause.

The Legacy Award for Black Excellence, one of the Community Foundation of Washington County’s 400+ funds, is now seeking applicants. Candidates must be African American Washington County high school graduates of all ages who demonstrate leadership qualities and are currently enrolled in college or technical program studies.

The Teen Pregnancy Prevention Fund, a component fund of the Community Foundation of Washington County MD, presented its seventh annual grant to two local nonprofits the Boys and Girls Club of Washington County, and Community Free Clinic alongside fund founder Carrol Lourie.

F&M Trust has a new place to call home.

The Franklin County-based community bank held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday to celebrate the opening of its new corporate headquarters in the Chambers-5 Business Park. The renovated 67,000-square-foot building at 1500 Nitterhouse Drive sits on 11 acres and is home to 150 employees with the capacity to accommodate future growth.
