The Arc of Washington County recognized as a Best Nonprofit Workplace

Hagerstown, MD – January 14, 2026 — The Arc of Washington County is proud to announce it has been selected as one of the 2026 Best Nonprofit Workplaces by Best Companies Group, a national workplace research organization that identifies and honors outstanding nonprofit employers across the United States.

This recognition highlights The Arc of Washington County’s ongoing commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and mission-driven workplace culture. The Best Nonprofit Workplaces program evaluates organizations through a rigorous, data-driven process that includes an in-depth review of workplace policies, practices, and demographics, along with an independent employee engagement and satisfaction survey.

Being named a Best Nonprofit Workplace reflects the dedication, compassion, and professionalism of The Arc of Washington County’s employees, who support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live full, meaningful lives in the community.

“This is a tremendous honor,” said Executive Director, Troy Van Scoyoc. “Empowering all to achieve meaningful lives really shines through when the organization is recognized for the hard work of our staff to not only support individuals served but also to create a culture of kindness, inclusion, and respect. I’m incredibly proud of our team to have earned this prestigious recognition.”

The Arc of Washington County is the largest provider of disability services in western Maryland and is recognized as one of the top employers in the region. The organization’s emphasis on employee well-being through strong benefit plans, wellness initiatives, and person-centered philosophy has transformed the organization over the last decade.

“Our employees are healthier – as recognized as one of Maryland’s Healthiest Organizations – and find strong meaning to the work they do within the organization” continues Van Scoyoc.

Recently, the organization was awarded a three-year accreditation from CARF International, an independent, nonprofit accreditor of health and human services. This significant achievement recognizes The Arc Wash Co’s commitment to providing high-quality, person-centered services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The 2026 Best Nonprofit Workplaces list will be published by Best Companies Group, showcasing organizations that demonstrate excellence in employee engagement and organizational culture.
