Ghost Writer Set for Growth as CEO Graduates from SBA THRIVE

WAYNESBORO, Pa. — Kirsten Hubbard, founder and CEO of Ghost Writer LLC, graduated from the Baltimore cohort of the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) THRIVE program for business executives on Wednesday, December 11.

She presented her capstone project, the cumulation of the six-month program, on December 4 to a panel of government, business, and community leaders. Additionally, Hubbard produced an 88-page manifesto on growth for Ghost Writer as a result of the program.

Ghost Writer is an innovative Franklin County-based company founded eight years ago in response to the need of nonprofit organizations to have access to affordable, sustained, and professional marketing and development, including grant writing, to amplify their world-changing work. Since opening, the company has connected great nonprofits with almost $12 million.

“Having founded and honed a model proven to work for our clients, participation in the SBA THRIVE clarified Ghost Writer’s goals for the next three years,” says Hubbard. “This includes stabilizing the business’s foundation, strengthening our already-successful marketing and development department to be self-sustaining, developing a product line to extend reach beyond our current clientele, and leveraging our newly-acquired WBE and EDSWOB certifications.”

SBA THRIVE is a nationwide program divided into several local cohorts. The program delivers a curriculum equivalent to that of a master’s degree in business administration. For the 2024 program year, 32,000 companies applied to participate in the nationwide program; 1,250 companies were accepted into the program. Out of the 17 companies who began with the Baltimore cohort, only eight graduated from the program.

“The lessons I learned will be with me for a lifetime,” says Hubbard. “The program excels at curating a room of CEOs whose companies have a solid foundation and are poised for growth. Sharing experiences and solutions and developing relationships with other CEOs were by far the most valuable part of the program. Ghost Writer has a clear path and a solid support system to better meet the needs of our team, clients, and community.”
