F&M Trust donates $5,000 to Washington County Organizations

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – F&M Trust recently donated $5,000 to two not-for-profit organizations in Washington County as part of its partnership with the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars.

For the second year in a row, the bank’s partnership with the professional baseball team is recognizing the efforts of not-for-profits that are making an impact in the community with the F&M Trust Strikeout Initiative.

Habitat for Humanity of Washington County and REACH of Washington County were each the recipients of a $2500 donation as part of the program that makes a contribution to not-for-profit organizations for each strikeout recorded during a home game against the visiting team. By partnering with the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars, who brought professional baseball back to the region, local organizations are being recognized for the work they are doing.

“The Flying Boxcars are proud to partner with F&M Trust and support the important work that nonprofit organizations do in our community,” said Hagerstown Flying Boxcars General Manager, David Blenckstone. “It's a team effort and we give a tip of the cap to the Boxcars pitching staff as well!"

Habitat for Humanity of Washington County, an organization that provides decent and affordable housing for working Washington County residents through new construction, renovation and home repair, and REACH of Washington County, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing and resolving homelessness in the community through various support services and resources, were selected as this year’s recipients because of their dedication and commitment to strengthening the communities they serve in Washington County including Hagerstown.

“We admire the work that Habitat for Humanity of Washington County and REACH of Washington County are doing towards empowering individuals through their efforts of advocacy, education and compassion,” F&M Trust President and CEO Craig Best stated.

“By helping families move toward independence and stability, we strengthen our communities, and these two organizations are a fine example of how that can be done.”
