GENERAL FUNCTION:

Assisting all sports programs including scheduling, communicating, field/gym set up and clean up.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

· Must have a general understanding of the sports that are played at the Y.

· Be an effective team player with high energy and strong communication skills.

· Must be accurate, efficient and detail oriented.

· Must possess strong leadership skills and an ability to work independently.

· Must be certified in CPR/AED and First Aid or can obtain this certification within 60 days of hire.

· Must be Microsoft Office proficient.

· Must have drivers license and reliable transportation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Communicate effectively with members, staff, and parents of the Y.

· Ensure that volunteers have completed all paperwork and required training.

· Log SSL hours

· Assist with the planning and overall function of sports camp.

· Maintain field and gym program areas.

· Assure proper maintenance and cleanliness of program areas and equipment.

· Assist in development and distribution of practice and game schedules, rules, and guidelines.

· Schedule, substitute as needed and find coverage for coaches and referees in all sports including but not limited to basketball, soccer, and volleyball.

· Assist in recruitment and training of volunteers.

· Assist with filing of paperwork.

· Assist at offsite locations as needed.

· Supervise participants and monitor activities in the gymnasiums.

· Monitors and enforces all rules and regulations of gymnasiums, including but not limited to:

· Making sure no drinks or food enter the gymnasiums

· Enforcing program block times

· Making sure no foul language or other obscene behavior occurs

· Enforcing dress / proper athletic footwear code

· Prohibiting hanging on the basketball rims

· Ensuring that children 12 and under are under the direct supervision of a guardian 18 years of age or older

· Ensures that all programs and events during shift are executed and monitored.

· Operates scoreboard and manages team play during adult pickup times.

· Ensures the safety and well-being of all guests in the gymnasiums in accordance with facility policies.

· Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Ability to always supervise children by sight and sound.

· Ability to move quickly to react to safety issues in the setting (i.e. climbing, aggressive behavior).

· Ability to remain calm, objective and respectful in potentially stressful situations (i.e. crying upset child, upset parent, or upset staff).

· Ability to be flexible and willing to adjust to change.

· Ability to move around the room to assist children and supervise children with daily activities, social interaction, physical and emotional needs.

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

· Ability to work in all elements (i.e. outside in all weather).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.50 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
