Maryland Symphony Orchestra Announces 2026/27 Season Filled with Iconic Music and Shared Experiences
HAGERSTOWN, MD — Maryland Symphony Orchestra has announced its 2026/27 concert season, Sound & Story: Iconic Music, Brought to Life, a season that celebrates the power of music to tell stories, spark imagination, and bring people together.
The new season invites audiences into a series of programs built around some of the most compelling and recognizable works in the orchestral repertoire. From the bold energy of Beethoven to the unmistakable voice of Gershwin, each concert is designed to feel immersive, dynamic, and deeply human.
Audiences can expect a wide range of musical experiences throughout the season, from sweeping symphonic works to more intimate and expressive moments. A special highlight includes a live orchestral performance of Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean, bringing the excitement of the film to life on stage in a way that can only be experienced in person.
“This season reflects who we are as an organization and who we serve,” Kim Bowen, Executive Director of the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, said. “At its heart, the symphony is about bringing people together, creating shared experiences, and making space for moments that feel meaningful and memorable. Sound & Story invites our community to be part of that in a way that feels both welcoming and refreshing.”
Music Director and Conductor Elizabeth Schulze said the season was shaped with both storytelling and audience experience in mind.
“Every program this season is built around the idea of storytelling through music,” Schulze said. “These are works that speak in different voices. Some are bold and expansive, others are intimate and reflective, but all of them invite listeners to experience something personal. It is a season full of color, imagination, and emotional range, and I believe audiences will find themselves drawn into these stories in a very real way.”
All performances will take place at The Maryland Theatre in downtown Hagerstown, continuing the orchestra’s long-standing role as a cultural cornerstone in the region.
Subscriptions for the 2026/27 season are now available. A variety of subscription options are offered to meet audiences where they are, whether they attend every concert or are just beginning to explore live orchestral music. Single tickets will go on sale July 1.
