The Club officially opened the Fletcher Center on July 17, 2025, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by hundreds of community members and supporters. Among those present were former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan and former Club member, NBA player, and current TNT basketball analyst Dennis Scott, both of whom helped commemorate the historic occasion.

Since opening its doors, the Fletcher Center has become a vibrant hub for youth development, serving hundreds of children and teens through after-school programming, summer camps, educational enrichment, and recreational activities.

Throughout its first year, the Center has welcomed numerous community partners and volunteers who have enhanced programming and expanded opportunities for members. Key partnerships have included the Washington County Free Library, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washington County, and the Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine.

“It’s hard to believe we’ve already been in this incredible building for a year,” said Addie Nardi, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County. “Watching the vision we had for our members come to life has been truly rewarding. Every day, we see young people growing, learning, and thriving in this space, and we’re excited to continue building on that success in the years ahead.”

In addition to daily programming, the Fletcher Center has served as a gathering place for the broader community, hosting service club meetings, educational tours, family engagement events, and special celebrations. Highlights of the year included the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Maryland Youth of the Year Competition, as well as Club-wide Halloween and holiday family events.

Today, the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County operates four after-school and summer camp locations in Hagerstown and one site in Frostburg. The organization’s mission is to enable all young people—especially those who need us most—to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. Since its founding in 1941, the Club has served thousands of youth and currently impacts approximately 700 young people ages 6–18 each year.
