Susan's Bio:

Susan joined Washington County Government in 2014 as Real Property Administrator within the Division of Engineering. She served in the role of Business Leader within the Department of Business Development before being promoted to Director of Business Development in 2018. Prior to working for the County, Small was a licensed real estate professional. 

She has an extensive background in real estate, client relations and business development. A graduate of Frostburg State University, Small studied fine arts, graphic design and art history, earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts. She is a member of the International Economic Development Association, the Maryland Economic Development Association, an ex officio on the Washington County Chamber of Commerce board, a committee member of the Greater Hagerstown Committee’s Vision 2.1 Innovative Gateways Success Team, and ex officio on the Airport Advisory Committee. She is also pursuing her certification to become a Certified Economic Developer. 

Susan was recently remarried on New Year's Eve of  2020 and now has two stepchildren, Taylor and Weston, in addition to two children of her own, Anabelle and Natalie. In her spare time, Susan enjoys skiing with her family, is an avid fitness instructor and runner, and a dedicated ‘sports mom’.
