Description

Start your day with a little morning networking at the Chamber of Commerce office! Our popular morning mixers offer the opportunity to hear about some exciting Chamber happenings. Connect with fellow members, and touch base on ways you can benefit from your membership!

At Coffee and Connections, we celebrate Chamber members in a variety of ways! Several times out of the year, we select a Chamber member to speak about what their company does. We also have refreshments provided monthly! Lastly, we feature work from artists affiliated with the Washington County Arts Council for you to view at the mixer. Join us in the F&M Trust Training Room at the Chamber.

Dusty's Bio:

I have been sewing since I was in Middle School, followed by majoring in Home Economics at Ashland College in Ohio, and the University of Maryland, with an emphasis in Clothing & Textiles. I am a retired Home Economics (also known as FACS- Family and Consumer Science) teacher from Washington County. Prior to that I was a 4-H and Youth Agent in Anne Arundel County for four years.

My first knitting project at age 10 was a swimsuit for Barbie!

In 1981 I took quilt design and construction classes from Virginia Poling, a local quilter. I love making items from fabric and yarn- quilts, wall-hangings, baskets, jewelry organizers, bags, knitted and crocheted items, etc. which encompasses the art of combining colors and possible textures. My father was a local Plastic Surgeon, my mother a Fine Art Artist, so I believe I have a combination of both their talents when I create an item from fabric and fiber.

5 years ago I decided I either needed to use or give away my mother's table top loom which led me to buying my own floor loom. Local Master Weaver Barb Diefenderfer taught me all things weaving. At first, I made scarves, for I could not see putting energy into a towel to dry dishes. However, ever since weaving my first towels I am hooked on the endless combinations of patterns and colors.

Stone House Urban Winery will be offering samples of their seasonal flavors and also some baked goods!
