About Mindy:
After years working in the nonprofit human services field, I saw two undeniable trends. The first was the struggle many nonprofits face to get off the ground, barely surviving from grant to grant, or hitting plateaus that limit their mission's reach and impact. The second was the presence of passionate professionals in nonprofit leadership, dedicated to and trained in service provision. These trends are related and illustrate a difficult truth: At some point, a nonprofit's heart must be complimented with a business mindset to survive and thrive.
Mindy Propst, the founder and principal consultant of Jani Consulting Services brings more than twenty-five years of programmatic and operational experience in nonprofits of all sizes, from small local to large national organizations. She holds dual Bachelor's degrees in Public Health and Psychology from Johns Hopkins University and an MBA from NYU Stern School of Business. This unique blend of experience and education enables her to excel in strategy development, operational efficiency, and financial results through people leadership, information systems, process management, talent development, communication, and culture creation in the healthcare, mental health, and disability-related human services sectors.
Ms. Propst believes in the potential of every organization to make a positive impact. Her goal is to provide nonprofits with the business tools and expertise they need to expand their mission, deepen their impact, and stretch their limited dollars farther. As part of her mission to advance nonprofit and social impact organizations, she also creates Jani's Journal, a bi-weekly newsletter highlighting the relevance of "traditional" business management topics for nonprofits.
