Saturday, June 29, 2024 (10:00 AM - 4:00 PM) (EDT)

Join the Washington County Historical Society June 29 for a Public History Day as they commemorate the 160th Anniversary of the Ransom of Hagerstown!

This free event will take place from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM with vendors and activities throughout the Miller House Museum and Garden. The day will kick off with a Mayoral proclamation in the morning!
Be the first to see their new exhibit in the Miller House (second floor) that interprets the Ransom of Hagerstown for visitors, featuring WCHS artifacts! Refreshments, history books, and other gifts will also be available for sale inside.
Outside at the Miller House Garden, guests can enjoy an art show by Antietam Gallery, local historical organizations, vendors, and more free family fun including historical yard games!
They will be offering a Walking Tour in Downtown Hagerstown at 11:00 AM led by Stephen Bockmiller, author of Follow the Money: The 1864 Confederate Ransom of Hagerstown, Maryland, who will be available to sign copies of his book. This ticketed experience will raise funds towards their $20,000 fundraising goal!
