Getting to Know PFAS and Forever Chemicals

Free program presented by Buttonwood Nature Center in partnership with Antietam Watershed Association. Speakers are Brent Walls, Upper Potomac Riverkeeper, and Bergen Hubert, product chemistry and sustainability professional. Learn about PFAS in the Potomac Watershed. (PFAS = per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances). Discover why PFAS (forever chemicals) are ubiquitous pollutants with many sources and how they move through our environment and contaminate our bodies. Walls will also discuss Potomac Riverkeeper Network strategies that focus on military bases and biosolids, including legislation, community projects and enforcement actions. Free test kits available for community members to check their own water supplies.
