C.A.R.E. articulates the key signs that an older adult may suffer loneliness or depression due to isolation. You can use the letters to ask if it might be time for a helping hand.

C.A.R.E. Stands for:

CUES – Are there noticeable changes to appearance, hygiene, or housekeeping?

ASSISTANCE – Is there a need for support for mobility or daily activities of living?

RESPONSIVENESS – Are changes in cognitive functioning happening? Repeating themselves, forgetting, or frustrated when communicating?

ENGAGEMENT – Are their social interactions limited? How much time are they alone?
