Caregiver of the Year

Local Woman in Running for Visiting Angels National Caregiver of the Year Award

Lisa Follin Named Semi-Finalist for the Home Care Company’s Top Honor

(April X, 2023) – Visiting Angels, the nation’s leading provider of senior home care, names Lisa Follin of Thurmont, Maryland, as one of the 10 semi-finalists for its National Caregiver of the Year award.

The prestigious honor recognizes Visiting Angels caregivers for their overall contribution and commitment to delivering quality care to the clients and families they serve, as well as how they embody the company’s compassionate values and demonstrate excellence. The semi-finalists were selected from entries throughout the 600 Visiting Angels franchise locations nationwide.

"We nominated Lisa because she embodies excellence in caregiving. Her compassionate nature and unwavering dedication to her clients makes her the kind of caregiver that brings peace of mind to families,” says Brian Bailie, owner of Visiting Angels of Waynesboro. “She is a shining example of the exceptional standards we strive for in our company, and we feel privileged to have her represent us. Watching Lisa in action is a testament to the beauty of the human spirit, and her contributions make our company a better place."

Since joining Visiting Angels of Waynesboro as a caregiver more than five years ago, Lisa Follin has always put her clients' needs first. One perfect example is one of her clients was  diagnosed with a brain tumor. Lisa has been by his side throughout his chemotherapy and radiation treatments, ensuring that he gets to every doctor's appointment, follows a medically necessary diet, and maintains a clean and comfortable home environment. Despite his condition, Lisa also ensures that he has some fun along the way. His daughter describes her work as incredible and indispensable to their family's peace of mind.

Lisa is selfless. When she experienced her own health emergency, her first concern was whether her clients would receive the care they needed.  When there was an ice storm, and it was unsafe to drive on the roads, Lisa walked a mile to a client’s home to ensure he was taken care of.

“Caregiving requires compassion, patience, and dedication. Lisa Follin exemplifies these qualities,” says Larry Meigs, CEO of Visiting Angels. “She and the other nominees for the 2023 Caregiver of the Year award demonstrate their extraordinary commitment to their clients by helping them maintain their independence as long as possible.”

The Caregiver of the Year winner will be announced on Tuesday June 27.  The grand prize winner will receive a $5,000 prize. Two finalists will each receive $2,500.
