How this Local Global FinTech is Putting its People and Communities First

In 2019, Fiserv and First Data merged – a transformative combination that united two premier payments and financial technology providers. Over the years, Fiserv has established a strong and steadfast presence in the Hagerstown community and is proud to support where its associates live, work and shop.

As a Washington County Chamber Large Business Award Finalist in 2021, Fiserv demonstrates its investment in Hagerstown and Washington County – home to over 1,200 of its more than 44,000 associates worldwide – through robust engagement in and support of multiple initiatives that include the United Way of Washington County, Boys & Girls Club, Salvation Army and Maryland Food Bank, to name a few. In addition, Fiserv associates actively show their commitment to and representation within the community through various board memberships and leadership positions in these organizations, such as Girls Inc., American Legion, Washington County Chamber of Commerce and more.

Fiserv leads by example, fostering an environment of diversity and inclusion that celebrates originality and unique perspectives among its associates, clients and community and supplier partners. Through educational and engaging programming, a network of employee resource groups, key community partnerships and other initiatives, Fiserv is dedicated to moving the company, its people and its communities forward by bringing us together.

A crucial piece of the company’s commitment to elevate diversity, equity and inclusion is its Back2Business program, which launched in Summer 2020 in response to COVID-19. The program aims to help Black- and minority-owned small businesses, many of which were hit hardest by the effects of the pandemic, to emerge from the crisis stronger than ever through financial assistance, subject matter expertise, small business technology and community partnerships. With an investment of $50 million, Fiserv has provided $10,000 Back2Business grants to more than 1,500 small business owners since the launch. Fiserv associates – including those in Washington County—can actively participate in the programming by recommending black and minority small business owners they know to the program.

Fiserv looks forward to doing its part to enhance Washington County in new and exciting ways and delivering meaningful value within the community for years to come.
