Applications Open for The Paul Lawson Aviation Scholarship Fund
HAGERSTOWN, Maryland, February 17, 2023— Applications are being accepted for The Paul Lawson Memorial Aviation Scholarship, a fund created with The Community Foundation of Washington County.
Created in memory of Lawson, who passed away in 2021, this fund will provide scholarships for Maryland or West Virginia residents between the ages of 15-25 pursuing aviation lessons.
A Baltimore, Md. Native, born in 1958, Lawson graduated from Woodlawn High School before going on to attend the Peabody Institute. He went on to become a flight instructor at the Aero-Smith Flight Center in Martinsburg, WV, and eventually became a Boonsboro, Md. Resident alongside his wife Rebecca. In addition to flying, he enjoyed being a highly skilled machinist.
A proud member of the Leetown Chapter of Izaak Walton League, the National Flying Club Chapter 1071, and the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) 1071, this fund promises to preserve his passion for aviation.
