TOPIC: Financial Wellness in Washington County

With Kelli Tencer, Director of Community Impact & Investment for United Way of Washington County MD, Inc.

Join this powerful and supportive group of women to learn about a featured topic each month!

Have you met ALICE? ALICE is an acronym for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed, and represents the growing number of families who are unable to afford the basics of living.

With the cost of living higher than what most people earn, ALICE families have income above the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), but not high enough to afford a basic household budget that includes housing, childcare, food, transportation, and health care.

Kelli Tencer will lead a lively, interactive discussion on the realities of what it is like to live paycheck to paycheck.

Discussion will include:

  • Financial Education opportunities in Washington County
  • United for ALICE-Who is ALICE?
  • Poverty and ALICE in Washington County, MD
  • Live United @ Work-A Financial Wellness Program United Way is about to debut in Washington County

Be prepared to have fun and participate in an activity that will simulate the tough choices many working households make every day in our community.

Kelli’s Bio:

A native of Hagerstown, Kelli has over twenty years of human service experience and has been affiliated with United Way’s programming and mission while she served as Program Director for the Financial Education Partnership of Washington County (FEPWC) collaboration. Kelli also currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Community Development Network of Maryland and is a member of Class #36 Leadership Washington County. Her career in human services began as a parent advocating for her son’s educational needs while living in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
